New Buddha Way runs a regular session for the study of the classic texts of the Buddha Dhamma.
The Study Group has been meeting in Worplesdon, Surrey, but in 2014 will move to another venue to accommodate more people. It convenes once every three weeks, and attendance is by those who have participated in NBW meditation sessions and Dhamma discussion for over a year (or equivalent elsewhere) and shown a high level of commitment.
The objective of studying classical texts is to enhance practice and serve the Buddha Dhamma community. The Main focus is on the Pali Canon suttas of the Tipitaka and the most significant and influential texts of the Mahayana and Vajrayana. We study English translations of the classical texts, relating them to questions of contemporary culture. Our study also occasionally explores important articles by scholars about the history and texts of the Buddha Dhamma, as appear in journals such as the Journal of the Pāli Text Society or The Eastern Buddhist.
