AIMS AND OBJECTIVES The objective of studying classical texts is always to enhance practice and serve the Buddha Dharma community. The aim is to study and discuss the most important classical texts of the Buddha Dharma, in English translation, in the context of contemporary culture. Its scope covers prominent texts of the Pāli Canon and the Mahāyāna (see below for examples). It will also occasionally cover important articles by scholars about the texts of the Buddha Dharma, as appear in journals such as the Journal of the Pāli Text Society or The Eastern Buddhist. The method is to choose an important and/or influential text, read it carefully, seek clarification on essential points, and relate it to actual practice and the growth of the community in contemporary conditions.
